First Day of Surgery

This morning as we were prepping for our first day of surgical procedures, I looked at one of our docs (Dr. Amanda Crow) and told her that I still can’t believe we’re doing this. Not that we’re here in Haiti, but the fact that we are here in Bainet for another surgical trip.
I can’t believe the fact that we had more than 20 suitcases packed with surgical supplies that had to be unpacked and organized to enable our team to carry out our objectives on this trip.
In 2014, one of our last patients was a 2-year-old with an incarcerated hernia with hours to live, and this year our first patient was a 4-year-old boy who was not in a dire situation, but still needed a hernia procedure.
This is why we’re here. The community has been asking for us to provide these services. Three years ago, we began to collaborate with Haiti’s Ministry of Health’s medical clinic in Bainet to answer their call.
All of this has been done because you’ve chosen to partner with us. To help us carry out this important part of our overall initiatives.
Just a few pics to share from our day today.
