HFHF Fundraiser Details & Descriptions

These fundraisers are fun to be a part of, believe it or not!

We’re always thrilled when we reach any goal or make a record amount from any event. Our excitement comes from the knowledge that every single dollar is making a difference in a country so deserving!

Build a Hospital  |  Sponsor a Child  |  Haiti Golf Classic  |  Sell Duke Merchandise

HFHF Build a Hospital

We have the lofty, but oh-so-attainable goal of raising $1 million dollars.

With the purchase of two buildings in Bainet, Haiti, we now have two great foundations to build upon; specifically, we’re going to build a fully-functioning hospital and a dormitory.

Some may think $1 million dollars is too much or not enough, but we believe it will get us going and thriving in significant ways. We need to cover construction costs at first, but the hospital will require a great amount of operational expenses – staffing, equipment, maintenance, and infrastructural systems like water treatment and electricity.

Our hope is that this initial large fundraiser will lead us to making great partnerships with individuals and groups alike that will nurture long-term commitments to the betterment of the country of Haiti and its awesome people.

HFHF Sponsor a Child

Just like the song says, we believe that “children are our future…teach them well and let them lead the way…” : )

Hope for Haiti Foundation’s Sponsorship Program allows you to participate in providing education and empowerment to the Haitian children and youth. All sponsorship funds (a mere $30/month per child) go directly to Haiti, providing a free elementary education and access to free medical care for a child. Our initial goal is to have 1000 children sponsored!

Sponsors receive a picture of the child they’re supporting and can communicate by letters and may visit the child once per year, if desired. While no money and gifts can be sent to the child, a sponsor may bring a gift to the child or family while visiting.

What is so exciting about the Sponsorship Program is what we’ll be able to do with the funds. We’ll be able to hire more trained and qualified staff to teach at the schools HFHF owns and those with which we partner. We’ll be able to provide education to more children than we have ever before – that also means more medical care, more money to provide food, better school materials, completed school building construction, and so much more!

We also have a Scholarship Fund, through which we are able to help pay college-age students to further their education – with their commitment of returning and giving back of their time and talents to HFHF. Again, you see here how one of our mottos “Haitians helping Haiti” comes into play.

A child can be sponsored for just $30 a month, and any amount added to the Scholarship Fund goes such a long way. We hope you are thrilled as much as we are about fostering the potential in the youth of Haiti!

HFHF Golf for Change at the Haiti Golf Classic

Every year, HFHF holds a golf tournament (Crooked Creek Golf Course, Fuquay-Varina NC) to benefit the overall needs of HFHF's work in Haiti.

The Haiti Golf Classic continues to grow annually – the participation, the prizes, and usually the money raised.

Through players and sponsors, we are able to make the tournament a success. There are many ways both parties can take part in the fundraiser; we are always open to new ideas for supporting that go beyond the packages and items we provide. Please feel free to contact our marketing team and share your ideas.

Another huge “player” in The Haiti Golf Classic is the volunteer – the tournament requires a lot of volunteer manpower. People are needed at the registration desk, at the silent auction tables, for decoration and setup, as beverage cart drivers, etc. If you’re interested in helping out – it really is a lot of fun – email Volunteer Coordinator Cean Grinnell at cgrinnell@hopeforhaitifoundation.com and let us know!

HFHF Sell Duke Merchandise

HFHF is blessed to be one of the few volunteer groups with a reserve merchandise spot at the home football and basketball games of Duke University every year.

As you probably know, college sports are very popular in North Carolina, so sales of Duke Merchandise are huge. From every game we sell merchandise, we get 10% of the total sales from our tent or booth. Our yearly totals always make this opportunity one of our biggest fundraisers for the Foundation.

Volunteers are essential for this to be a success. We have a volunteer coordinator who sends out emails with the home game schedules and number of people needed, so you’re always aware of what’s needed and when. We’ve had volunteers from age under 10 years old and up to the 60s help out and were great – so don’t think that you’re not able to be helpful!

Just think, you can support HFHF and help us reach our goals while enjoying (with a little watching) high-level, competitive college athletics! Duke basketball is consistently a top national team, and fans are happy to say that the football program is improving, so this is a greatly entertaining way to raise funds.
